The starting point of the workshop is the notion of inner stage developed within a theoretical and practical framework of a possible relationship between psychoanalysis, education and performance. It calls into question some points, for example that performance takes place in the purely physical world, questioning the dichotomy of inner and outer and underlining the importance of “relation” which is present within the filed of performance. The presence of a body on a stage and as well the presence of spectators will be considered as modality of relation. And this relation will be articulated trough the act of conversation and listening.

In order to carry out this work disposition is more important than a technique or particular knowledge. It’s important during the sessions that one’s attention is engaged and one is willing to share one’s thoughts and emotions.  The sincerity and dedication with which the work is carried out are perhaps the only indispensable conditions.

Snejanka Mihaylova is a writer and performance artist whose practice is located at the intersection of thinking and theatre. Her work has been shown at De Hallen, Haarlem (2011), Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam (2012), Bonnefantenmuseum, Maastricht (2012), and REDCAT, Los Angeles (2015). In 2014 she was commissioned by If I Can’t Dance I Don’t Want To Be Part Of Your Revolution in the context of Edition V, Appropriation and Dedication, and has published three books, Theatre of Thought (2011), Practical Training in Thinking (2012), and Acoustic Thought (2015). She is currently teaching in the Master of Voice program at the Sandberg Institute, Amsterdam.
