Jovanka Trbojevic on inspiration for 'B Funeral'

"The video is based on the improvisation which I did with Juha Valkeapää in galleria Sculptor as a part of Sándor Vály's solo exhibition in 2014. Sándor wanted us to improvise on his dada films and Juha and me responded to that challenge. I just met Juha for the first time, we shook the hands and went to make music for half an hour! Sándor recorded the event and afterwards I slightly edited this recording. Then it was put in my sound archive and forgotten for a while.

While I was in Bratislava in fall of 2014, a friend showed me own video material in which I got interested. I connected it in my mind with the improvisation I mentioned.

In December of the same year my mother died after long and heavy illness. Then I decided to make a video with that 'objet trouvè' material and the recorded improvisation. My son Vuk Valkonen edited the picture with me on the base of music, which stayed unchanged. At that time it was kind of therapy for me after my dear mama’s death. Strange and painful was that orphan feeling I have never experienced before.

The performance was born as a continuation of all these events. Dada celebration felt as a natural extension of the background which I just explained and thoughts about life and death…".
