Malin Kivelä's DADA FAIL or the short history of Chichi van der Hünckelstraße at Neodada Festival

To be a dadaist woman wasn’t easy. Either you died young, poor, alone and misunderstood or then you had to marry a real dadaist, that is a dadaist man, get children and stay at home. Perhaps you were allowed to throw tea parties for the dada gentlemen sometimes, if you were nice.

What was dada, really? Some crooked rugs, some inconceivable sound poems, some clumsy performances? Can we understand it today? What can it offer us? Did anything last?

Has anyone heard of Chichi van der Hünckelstraße, for example? Or her most famous work: The Rabbit? Hidden in a forrest, a mystery ahead of its time.

Mad House celebrates 100 years of dadaism with Neodada Festival on April 22-24. On Saturday 23rd of April Malin Kivelä performs DADA FAIL every hour from 7.16 p.m. to 2.16 a.m. DADA FAIL consists of sound, film and action and is performed in English.
